  • Winner of the Kaye Invention Award

  • Recognized as one of 24 groundbreaking researchers and inventions of the Hebrew University of all times: (see publication p. 11) 

  • Head of the Unit of Cell Pharmacology from 1978 focusing on mechanisms involved in maintaining the healthy function of the cells and in the tissue integrity, particularly with regard to skin and eyes

 

Drugs on the international market which are based on Prof. Diksteins's exclusive scientific and applied knowledge:

  • BSS Plus, used in cataract surgery, manufactured by Alcon;

  • Silkis® or Vectical® cream used for treating psoriasis, manufactured by Galderma;

  • Larycon® eye drops which is sold under various commercial names for the treatment of chronic dry eye and conjuctivochaliasis.

  • Xylinep® gel used for the treatment of atopic and dry skin.

  • Cilixyl® nasal spray used for the treatment of nasal dryness.

 

Awarded numerous prizes, among them:

  • First prize of the Hebrew University’s Kaye Innovation Award in 1996

  • Ferenc Papolczy Award of the Hungarian Society for Eye Research in 2005.

  • Honorary member of Hungarian Ophthalmological Society in 2017

 

Founding member of:

  • The International Society for Eye Research (ISER)

  • The International Society for Bio-engineering and Skin (ISBS)

  • The International Society for Dacryology (ISD).

 

Guest professor at Stanford, London and Oxford Universities

 

Authored two books; contributed numerous articles to several scientific books; written over 150 scientific papers.
